The community-focused Platform Cafe uses surplus food from Plan Z Heroes, City Harvest & Loughborough Farm to serve up healthy vegetarian food to locals and provide a welcome space to hang out in doing so.
They've recently raised over £17,000 to offer a programme of support for socially isolated residents by offering food, one-to-one check-ins and group socials.
During the Covid-19 lockdown the cafe has continued to serve up and deliver food to vulnerable adults and children, low income families affected by the crisis and children who usually receive free school meals.
They're now hoping to develop the space as a place people can connect, with the aim of providing outreach not only in the form of meals, but also in listening, talking and sign-posting people to other valuable services in the local area.
